We’re getting closer to the end of summer. I know it feels like it just started, but I’m telling you it’s going to be over soon. Maybe not today, and maybe not this week, but soon. So before it’s over I have 5 things you should do before these warm days are gone forever or at least until they return next year.
Have A Summer Dinner with Friends Outside
Make it a BBQ, make it a potluck, and just make it happen. The weather is so nice that it makes sense to have a great little party outside. You can go big and decorate, or make it small and intimate. It’s just so rare that we get to do these activities, as it gets colder out so make the most of it while you can.
Go buy the Summer Accessories that are on Sale
I am already seeing the sales begin. The “end of summer” deals are a real thing and they are everywhere. I have seen really cool beach towels for crazy cheap. I mean really cool towels! I have even managed to snag some pretty incredible outdoor pillows from Target for half off. Half off people!
Go look at some of your local retailers, or even try looking online. People are starting to get rid of so many great things that you can still use for quite a bit longer.
Finally Start that Garden
It’s a great time to do it. It’s still warm out, and gardening is such a good excuse for spending more time outside. You can choose something to make your backyard look just a wee bit nicer, or start a vegetable garden. I’m thinking go with vegetables because you’re going to be able to make some great little meals out of these things.
Have Yourself a Yard Sale
This is good for 2 reasons. First, you’re able to get rid of a massive amount of things that you have been hording away for quite some time. I mean that alone will feel so good. Second, you can make a nice little profit, which will pay for your end of summer shopping. I mean it’s a win-win!
If you are doing a yard sale, pick a day where it won’t be too hot outside. You don’t want to be miserable. Oh and follow the rules from the ‘Tips on Having a Yard Sale’ so that you can have a successful event. No one wants to go to all of the trouble and not make the most of it right?
That’s right! This is the most important one of all. Go do absolutely nothing. For one single glorious day, try to do absolutely nothing. Do it alone, or do it with your kids, but do it. Do it outside, and enjoy it.
Personally my day of nothing is going to include sitting in the hammock, drinking a glass of wine, and just watching my kids play. I can’t tell you how exciting this sounds to me.
Okay there you have it. Those are the 5 things you must do before summer is over. Which one are you going to do first? Is it nothing? I bet it’s nothing. Either way, enjoy it! In about 3 months you may not get the chance.
