Those of us at Art Cricket LA got the opportunity to curate a pop up art show for an Art Walk in the LA community of Atwater Village. It was a total success because we got to meet so many local great LA artists. Most importantly it was also pretty incredible to see that there were such a large number of people who showed up to enjoy the work of local artists. This concept is exactly what we’re trying to promote more of throughout Los Angeles.
Our show was titled ‘Art About Atwater’, and all 9 of the pieces included art that was devoted to Atwater Village. The people who live in the community are highly supportive of the villagers and the activities that take place. Naturally, displaying 9 pieces about this specific area was embraced by almost everyone who came through. We chose to highlight the locations of each piece on a map of the neighborhood.
Our 4 hour show ended with 6 of the 9 pieces being sold. We absolutely consider this to be a huge success. To see such a large number of people come in and love the work was not only great for the artists, but it was gratifying to know that so many people do still enjoy seeing one of a kind pieces. This is exactly what Art Cricket LA is hoping to encourage people to do more of.
Art Cricket LA was supremely happy when our founder and artist Diana Kohne Kenny (far right) was chosen as the guest celebrity judge for this years event. Being told that she was chosen as a celebrity for her work with Art Cricket is kind of amazing. All of us here at Art Cricket LA, especially Diana, have put in a lot of work and it was incredibly rewarding to know that people are so excited by the concept.
