I know on paper there is no question, real plants are always better. Okay, who am I kidding, real plants are better for a lot of reasons. I’m also fully aware that for some people it’s just not realistic. Maybe the problem is you just can’t keep them alive. Perhaps your place doesn’t have enough direct light. Or it could be that you just don’t have the time. Either way, let me break it down on whether or not you want fake or real plants for your home decor.
The winner here is without a doubt fake plants. However don’t think you can pop in a fake plant and never touch it again. These things get dusty very fast and it doesn’t look good.
Now if you want a real plant but you just want something that is easy to care for think about how often you can realistically care for a plant. In my opinion the easiest plants are succulents and ferns. Succulents get watered once a week and need a very small amount of fun. Ferns also need some sun, and you just need to keep the soil moist.
Hands down, real plants look far better than any fake plant ever could. Trust me when I say although it may not look too bad, there is no chance it’s fooling anybody.
If you’re determined to have a fake plant, maybe put them in spots that are harder to identify. For example, having a plant up on your fireplace mantle is a spot you’re not going to be looking at too closely. Your coffee table however is just a wee bit too close to direct eyesight.
Realistically, it doesn’t matter. Use whichever one you know is best for you. Regardless, plants make wonderful accessories. The beauty of plants themselves are one thing, but imagine all of the beautiful planters you can start shopping for.
