I don’t know about you, but I never really love the coasters I find. Yes, there are some gorgeous pieces out there, but they will more than likely cost more than the drinking glasses. I decided I didn’t want to spend that much money and I’m kind of obsessed with watercolor right now. So naturally making my own watercolor coasters just made perfect sense.
They only cost a total of $2.99 and are full of color. I love how they turned out and they are easy to make. I promise.
What You Need
Acrylic Paint (Use at least 2 colors for a better affect)
Modge Podge (Glossy Finish)
Choose your acrylic paint. I had these bright blue and a coral on hand. Add water to water the colors down quite a bit so it becomes very runny.
Begin to blot the watered down acrylic paint. It dried very fast so the more water you have the easier it is to manipulate. I let mine roll around and do whatever it wanted. Each coaster gets easier and easier. By the 4th one, you will probably finally be happy with what you’ve created.
Once they’re dry (which is very quickly) you want to cover it with a glossy mode podge. I recommend at least 3 coats for your coasters to be successful at their job. Then you’re done. See, I told you it was easy.
Now go choose something to test out these coasters. I recommend a nice glass of wine, but of course, I always recommend a nice glass of wine.
