Looks like I have 6 weeks until I reach my due date. I have procrastinated long enough to get Matilda’s room up and going. I’ve changed my mind 6, no, 7 times. But I have finally decided on what I’m doing for the nursery. With my daughter Abernathy, I set her rooms theme around owls. It was fun because eventually everyone associated the owl with Abby. It just became a fun thing that she seems to love too.
Another thing I found myself doing was trying to resist making the room to “girly”. However “girly” is exactly what she’s getting. I wanted to give her a sweet little girls room, and avoid the look of a typical nursery. I’ve combined my own love for gold with a peach, rosy, pink. I love the combination. It’s a lot of fun and totally cute.
So far Ive got all of the large pieces, and the paint needed to make them work. The pillows are fun and will tie everything together. By using thrift stores I was able to find a great dresser and changing table for only $25 total. I have just about everything else I need that I can refinish or adjust as necessary.
Lane, Abby, and I, are all going to paint something for Matilda to enjoy in her room. Here Abby has already started working on something and is so proud that she could make it for her new little sister. Finding the rest of the art, well that seems to be my greatest challenge. No worries. I’m having plenty of fun looking.
