One of my absolute favorite elements for designing any interior is unique lighting fixtures. I go gaga for great lamps or chandeliers. I am not at all particular with any one specific style of lighting. It always depends on the project at hand. I think they are the greatest way to help define the design style in your space, and it can sometimes be the most subtle. Below are pictures of lighting I have seen out to dinner, at someones home, or perusing the internet.
This sconce is beautiful because of how minimalistic it is. I presently have a strange obsession with these globe bulbs right now. The simple gold arm paired with the bulb shape couldn’t be more perfect.
The first are these great pendant lights from The York, which is a Gastropub in Highland Park. They look incredible at night, and really finish off the industrial look of the interior. They do look much more impressive in person.
Here the clear circular glass shades are gorgeous, but it is the difference in textures that makes it so unique. This is enhanced further by the variation in lengths and sizes.
This is actually one of my grandmothers table lamps. I don’t ordinarily like Victorian style anything, but I do appreciate how soft this shade is. In the right setting I think it is a gorgeous table lamp.
Here the light bulb is actually not where you expect it to be. Unless the light were on, you would assume the light source would be the clear round glass hanging from the bottom. Instead this looks more like a piece of art than it does a pendant light. So beautiful.
This pendant fits nearly every criteria for what I look for in a great lighting piece. I more than love the shape of the shade. That pastel mint color is quite a bit of a long time obsession for me. I appreciate the overall scale so as to make it appear more delicate and pretty. On or off, it’s pleasing to look at.
This is a table lamp I have seen in many different retail settings. The concept of taking what we love about a chandelier and compacting it down into a table lamp is striking. The bonus is the iron that is orbiting around the crystals. Who wouldn’t want this lamp?
Another example of lighting with an industrial look. I think there is something so pretty about how the bulb is such a significant part of the overall appearance.
This is one of the best examples of an art deco pendant that I’ve ever seen. I saw this on Pinterest quite some time ago and I so desperately want to find out who makes it. If you know, please share.
