Whether you have a dining room that needs its very own table, or you want to squeeze one in somewhere, you’ve really got to spend some time looking for the right one. As simple as it may seem, there is a lot more to it than you may think. Choosing a dining table is critical because it dictates how the space will be used.
Your table size comes down to two things. First, it must fit correctly in the space you have. You want to make sure it’s not too large as it will look wrong, and it will be difficult to move around it freely. You also don’t want it to be so small that you have too much space left around.
Second, you want to think about how many people you plan to have sitting around the table. If you’ve usually got 4 people around, then get only a table large enough to hold them. If you think you will occasionally entertain more, get yourself a table that extends from time to time.

Tables come in every style imaginable. If you prefer a modern style, you can get something simple and sleek. If you prefer something traditional, then find something more ornate. If you are perhaps unclear on what style you like, you can get something simple and change-up the look depending on what finish you choose.
Color & Finish
Country – Whitewash, solid white, or solid wood.
Shabby Chic – Whitewash or solid white.
Modern – Solid bold color or wood.
This is indicative of the style you prefer. However never feel limited to one style. It’s okay if none of the chairs match, or you have one style and a variety of colors. Another option is to have different styles in sets of 2. So if you’ve got 6 chairs, you can do 3 different looks.
Don’t feel that you have to purchase the chairs that comes with a dining table. Look around and see what’s out there. Make the combination your own. Try flea markets and second-hand stores. There are some beautiful chairs out there that desperately need a new home, and a little DIY help. Plus, it’s a great way to show off your creativity by giving those old chairs a whole new look.
