Of all the holidays, Thanksgiving is one of my favorites to make decorations for. The whole holiday centers around this one meal that you have with a large number of close friends or family. It makes sense that you want the table to look gorgeous. I mean you did spend all of those hours slaving over this feast. Why not make it look nice?
Luckily, you needn’t spend too much time doing so. Focus as much time as you can on the food, and let the decor be simple in comparison. With only a few supplies, you can have yourself some fun placemats and a nice runner that your guests will certainly love.
As you can see in the Fall Color Schemes, I love the look of the deep purple with that burnt orange. These two colors paired with a more neutral tone is gorgeous. I chose these colors for this years table pieces.
What You Need:
Burlap (Yardage depends on size of table, I needed 2 yards for my table)
Acrylic Paint (I chose Orange and Purple)
2 Stencils (1 a pattern & 1 letters)
Cut into 14″ x 72″ (this varies depending on your table length). I recommend keeping the edges slightly jagged, it looks much more natural and attractive with the burlap.
Choose pattern and repeat along either edge as you wish. I chose to alternate the colors, but you can certainly get away with using one color of your choosing.
10 Placemats were cut into 12″ x 14″w. Be certain of the appropriate size for the dishes and table. We have many kids attending this year so I made mine large enough to suit both adults and kids alike.
Choose stencil with your favorite font. I personally wanted something playful that guests of all ages would enjoy.
Choose your message, stencil, and you’re done. Easy right?
I Want a little something extra to put in the center? I went ahead and found some pieces that I think make the overall look complete, and beautiful together.
